Mikael Hertiig, 75, is a guest researcher with a keen interest in student life at Campus Sønderborg. Quite good  in English and German, with a rudimentary knowledge of French, he has translated German essays into Danish. Known for his friendly and informal style, Mikael brings experience, cultural insight.

 

 

 

 

 

My name is Mikael Hertig  and I am running as a personal candidate for the Byråd i Sønderborg representing Alternativet

. With an  academic background as a M.Pol.-Sci.  and extensive experience as a former civil servant and rearcher in Danish public law, I intend to bring both practical and analytical insights to local policymaking.

I am deeply committed to fostering a more inclusive and understanding Soenderborg, especially for  international students and immigrants. My ambition is to provide  genuine dialogue and openness, reflecting on the quote by Henrik Nordbrandt: “Understanding is a journey into the other’s land.”

My candidacy focuses on improving housing options for foreign students, enhancing integration initiatives, and creating stronger connections between Campus Soenderborg and the wider community. I also call for honest reflection on our local culture and a willingness to embrace diverse perspectives, inspired by voices like Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak.

Together with Alternativet

I will work for making Sønderborg a place where everyone feels at home and heard. I do not think this is the case today .

Alternativet is a small party. My ambition is to set agendas  (policy formulation) rather than getting direct influence.

You might fear that voting on me will be lost. But Alternativet is in electoral union with two other parties, Enhedslisten and Socialistisk Folkeparti . Thus, Alternativet is  in cooperation with the other left wing parties  Voting on Alternativet is also voting for the other parties in this union. Voting on one of them will also support Alternativet.
